It was the only thing I needed as stand-alone rain protection in the driest months. In the bad weather season, I would pair it with my ultralight hiking umbrella, because no rain gear on the planet can withstand pacific northwest rains.

Seam durability is my major complaint. I had a few places get damaged on the jacket because of pour seem quality. It however was quickly fixed with a bit of duct tape and back to full functionality.
You should consider giving this rain gear a try. Damage it? Buy more? You can purchase a dozen or more jackets, for the price of rain gear with more technical fabrics and a big brand on the label.
